What is depression? Do I have it? How is it treated?

Can a Christian be depressed? Are antidepressants safe?
These are just a few of the questions Dr. Mullen answers in this 81 page conversational and easy to understand book written for Christians.

Christians are often very confused and misinformed about the nature and treatment of mental illnesses.

They are also very suspicious of psychiatric treatments, so many are suffering needlessly from correctable conditions.

Dr. Mullen wrote this book originally for his general practice patients who were confused about the diagnosis of mood disorders and a Christian approach to medical treatment. In simple language, he explains what depression and mood disorders are, how to assess yourself and how medical treatment works.

By using simple and clear explanations along with illustrations, Dr. Mullen removes the mystery and stigma surrounding mood disorders in Christians.

With this book you will understand depression, anxiety, mood swings and chemical imbalances. You will be able to tell if you or a loved one is suffering from a mood disorder. You will be able to use the “Symptom checklists” to accurately explain your symptoms to your doctor.

This book is an excerpt of Emotionally Free so it is a faster and easier read, designed for depressed people who find reading difficult.

You can use this book along with the companion DVD Moods, and Depression.

Bipolar disorder is medically treatable so don’t hesitate to take the treatment, even as a Christian. We can wear glasses so we can take meds for a chemical imbalance. I have lots of info on mood disorders on the web site and on my Q&A page here: http://drgrantmullen.com/q-a-forums/
Email me directly (use the Contact Us button) if you have more questions.

I was diagnosed with Anxiety disorder, possible bipolar. Have many phobias and afraid of dying with feel any symptom. Was told by many Christian friends “not to confess it” sometimes cant sleep. Was told by many my fatih needs to be stronger how about the physical symptoms. Have seen five different psychiatric doctors and they all said bipolar.

Was taking clonazepam for four years and stopped little by little. Feel like Im a shame to the Christian Faith, fine line between faith and lying. God forgive me for thinking some Christians lie about the way they feel, and about taking meds and their medicine cabinet contains medications.
