I am so grateful for this video today. It reminds me that every day should be filled with Thankfulness, not just Thanksgiving! I am truly thankful for the opportunities God has given me to help provide for my family and others. It is through thankfulness that we can give back and through understanding the tools (our mind and our mouths) that He has given us that we can spread that thankfulness around! What your mouth speaks your feet will follow!
Good Morning and Happy Thanksgiving.
Wow Grant, great subject. As time is moving forward there are so many things that I am thankful for with God. First I am still here, second I am able to smile, laugh and fill joy in my heart. Wow, that in itself is so much from where I was before. For so long I had lost friendships and now they are returning to me and that is so wonderful. Growing out of my severe depression has been quite the task, but I know that I have God on my side and we will prevail through and move forwards. I am so thankful that God is in my life everyday. He brings the sun to my face and warmth to my heart.
Listening to the birds sing this morning with a little crispness in the air, the sun is shining in all its glory. It is already a great day.
Thanks for all you do, your videos help in many ways.
Carol
Keep that up! When you put words to your thankfulness it releases blessings in many directions.
I started a thankfulness journal this year and my goal is to write 1000 things (blessings God gives me) by the end of this year. It’s a great way at the end of the day to see how God was with me in every moment of the day.
The scripture 1 Thess 5:18 came to mind and it says In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Verse 16 says Rejoice evermore and the reference scripture Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I’m reminded constantly that when he said in Genesis let us make man in our image and after our likeness that we have the likeness of them already in us, one being thankfulness but because of all the baggage or strongholds that people may be loaded down with like depression, a lost loved one around this holiday, a bitter divorce, loss of children, a loss of employment, a loss of their home, etc. etc. may prevent someone or divert someone to think about their sadness and what they lost rather than thankfulness or being thankful. I’ve been depressed, lost a home, a job, loss loved ones around the holidays, tried to commit suicide, etc. etc. so I understand that I have to spend time working on conforming to their image and being transformed to be like them so that their is nothing that stands in the way of me giving him thanks always.
Thankfulness doesn’t always come easily as you pointed out. Sometimes it’s a discipline and takes work. It has a big payoff though that makes it worth the effort.
Yes it does have a big payoff I found that out for myself, it’s a great weapon that can win you battles.
I love you are helping me recognize thankfulness as being a spiritual weapon.
I know we war not against flesh and blood and we war not as flesh does against the principalities and powers of this world. That said I love seeing that moving in thankfulness opens the heavenlies and brings the Kingdom of God near.
You reminded me of another teaching I have heard that I am working at spiritual warfare when I partner with God’s spirit to hang on to and protect my joy and my peace. As I am able to build on my joy and peace in Christ I can give away the overflow to others to shore up their joy and peace in the Lord as well.
This perception about Thankfulness helps me see how we can ” Count it all joy when in the middle of trials and sufferings,” as James says.
As I walk thankfully, humbly, I am winning the spiritual battle for the peace and joy of my heart , mind and soul.
Thank you Grant. I can now add Thankfulness as a method of spiritual warfare as I put on the full armor of God.
Good point David. Yes joy and peace are more weapons for yourself and others. These weapons are surprisingly simple yet amazingly powerful.
Giving credit to people for all that they work on and for who they are individuals is a way for me to express thank-fullness.I have honestly found that being thankful to God throughout the seasons of life has been a tremendous key to generosity in practical matters and developing the ability to praising and honor other people
I heard someone say that gratitude is essential for mental health. How wise of God to tell us to ” Come into His gates with thanksgiving in our hearts” and Give thanks in all circumstances”.
You have added to my understanding of this important key when you stated that it helps us fight against those 3 strongholds. I’ll definitely be meditating and using these thoughts.
Thanks Grant
I express thankfulness to God daily by letting Him know how much I appreciate what He’s done and is still doing in my life, which is helping me to be conformed to the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.I am thankful to others whom God has placed in my life and I express gratitude by letting them know how much I appreciate them, and I find many thoughtful ways to express thankfulness to them such as hugs, cards, a phone call to say hello, gifts, etc..I agree that thankfulness does destroy greed, entitlement and jealousy in a person’s life.I used to be like that before I came to Christ; life revolved around me.Now, I can’t stand being like that anymore. It’s sad to me however, that most of the christians I know are like that. One of my biggest prayers for the Body of Christ has been that God would help each of us to have a more thankful heart toward Him and others as well.Great video, Dr Grant..loved the beautiful tress in the background..hope I can visit Canada someday.God bless.
Yes Glory, Canada is worth a visit, especially this time of year. We had picked a spot where the trees were breathtaking but fog rolled in so you couldn’t see them. So we had to move to a less dramatic area. Glad you found it helpful.
An attitude of thankfulness! This is such great advice, Grant. I just loved your message on having a thankful heart. I also loved the bright colored foliage in your backdrop to your video blog. We are so blessed to live in Canada especially at this time of year. Praise God for his daily provisions in our lives, for the peace that only He can give, and for sending us his son, Jesus Christ, who suffered for us, died, buried and rose again so that we can be declared righteous before God.
It’s very reassuring to know how God appreciates a grateful heart and blesses us with His peace and provision even at the 11th hour!! I really liked the way you expressed and clarified this message Dr Grant, Thank you.
Blessings Denise.
