An interview with Dr. Neil Anderson

The 4 most common reasons why Christians don’t enjoy the full freedom that Jesus intended for us.

I had a life changing experience

Years ago I was interviewing one of my depressed patients in hospital. At one point in the conversation her eyes glazed over and and her voice said “Leave her alone she’s ours!”

Every hair on my body stood on end and I was petrified. I had never encountered an evil spirit before. In fact, all I knew about them was that they were only found on mission fields. Certainly not in Canada.

I had been attending church all my life and I was completely unprepared to deal with the reality of spiritual conflict and the battle for our minds.

It didn’t take long for me to discover that the forces of darkness were completely opposed to me, my practice and my patients.

I needed help! But I didn’t know where to look.

At that time God put into my hands a life changing book, The Bondage Breaker by Dr. Neil Anderson.

For the first time I understood what was going on in the spirit realm and how we could be victorious in the battle for our minds. It became a valuable resource that I used in my practice. Dr. Anderson also wrote the foreword for my book Emotionally Free.

  1. Thank you Grant, for your ministry to Freedom in Christ, as they minister to others. I loved your interview here with Neil and am so thankful for the message of freedom. I was a captive who was set free through this liberating grace message! Blessings to both of you men as you bless the Body of Christ!

  2. To answer your question “What are other reasons why Christians still struggle? ” of course, there are many reasons. One that comes to mind is making comparisons and getting caught up in self-pity of what we didn’t have or think we don’t have compared to what we think others have.

We can always think someone else had a better upbringing, has a happier marriage, a better family, more opportunities than us, etc. but the reality is most people have struggles. We need to get rid of fantasy thinking that there is some perfect life to be had on this earth. Then we need to get rid of self-pity and make the most of the life we’ve been given.

  3. Thank you, Grant, as well. I have also been set free by God’s grace. I think people also get stuck in fear, unhealed wounds, confused teachings, various types of external oppression (including the demonic), isolation, undervaluing prayer, and lack of testimonies from those who have been set free. This is probably a short list! I feel blessed to have community who understand the existence of the dark spiritual world and have listened to God’s instructions in these matters. Perhaps this is too much for many people, but this seems to be an essential part of Jesus’ healing mission in this world. I am thankful for you both as you validate this reality. God bless!

  4. Thanks for clarifying.

I was hoping it was a joke but didn’t see any humorous response.

Satan is called the father of lies, but even he would be hard pressed to top that one.

  5. Hi Dr Mullen..I have been reading books by Neil Anderson for quite some time now and praying that the Lord will use it to help me be totally free from fears and phobias .Most of my ancestors were hindus and moslems and even today, most of my siblings and aunts, uncles, etc are still involved in hinduism and islam. In fact, a christian counselor had recommended his books to me but I already had them in my possession.I was surprised not too long ago by a friend of mine who dismiised the idea of christians needing deliverance or having demons cast out when this was a part of Jesus’ ministry. So I was really happy to watch this video because I realise we need to repent of our sins, our ancestors sins, and then forgive those who have hurt us so we can be free.God bless you!!

  6. Glory, you should do the Steps to Freedom which are in the back of The Bondage Breaker, or available on the FICM online store. Best if you can do it with one of their trained associates. Contact the FICM office to find out who is in your area.

  7. Thanks Dr Mullen..that is exactly what I was planning on doing after seeing your video with Neil Anderson.Later today, Im going to the website to get some information.Praise God for this confirmation.God bless you richly.

  8. I can’t thank you enough, Grant, for taking the time to organize all these emails and video links for our spiritual growth in Christ and helping me to sustain that hope that only He can give.

  9. Many have been raised in an ungodly culture…and inherited demonic beliefs from genetions of ungodly culture.
