  1. Hi Dr Grant..we were just discussing this topic of fear yesterday at Bible Study. I know we all struggle with fear in different areas since it is one of the enemy’s most powerful weapons against believers, to paralyze them from going forward and fulfilling God’s plans for their lives. Some of my fears are vague and seem to go back to my childhood, while others are very obvious to me. I have found that some of these fears have actually led me to trust God even more than before because I have to constantly run to Him for help.On the other hand, I have been struggling with a particular area in which I have been believing the lies of the devil that it’s never going to go away and that I’ll always be stuck in that area. I have found prayer, praise , worship and speaking the Word out loud against these attacks on my mind to be extremely powerful against the enemy’s assaults.I also pray in the spirit a lot and this brings clarity to my mind.Last, but not least, prayer combined with fasting breaks yokes that may not be broken any other way..enjoyed this video..God Bless..

  2. Hello,
I am trying to figure out why I act the way I do. I have been married for 25yrs now and have 3 children. I am a Christian and used to be active in the church but we had to move away and had to live with my parents. Well after 6 mths. we moved out, only to find out that my father had tried numerous times to sexually assault my daughter. We confronted him on it and he still denies his role. I know my daughter is not lying, my father has a proven track record. We forgave him, but wanted no contact with him. I have ran into him a couple of times and he has embarrassed me in front of people. Recently we were out shopping and I thought I saw him pull up to the store. I immediately took off out the store and left my family behind. It turned out it, was not him. I hate looking over my shoulder and having him, have this control over me. What is wrong with me? He always was, and still is very controlling to everyone in our family. I hate living this way !!!

  3. Thank you very powerful. I received an insight into my prayer life while listening to this! I have gotten into a strange trap in my prayer life….it is praying that bad things don’t happen for example, pray for protection from car accidents, pray against a spirit of division instead of unity. So, I have to let the “bad thing” into my mind, which is fear based, to cover it in prayer….thinking this is leading of the Holy Spirit. I just realized the Lord’s prayer is enough…”Deliver us from evil”. However, the scripture “Do not be anxious about anything, but with prayer and petition and Thanksgiving make your requests to God and the peace of God that passes understanding will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus…..is a way to cope with fear as well. If the evil one plants the thought then if you keep turning it into a prayer he is not likely to keep planting. However, in his craftiness and desire to wreck everything good, I can see that if you are a prayer warrior he will then adjust his strategy to fill your thoughts with negative things to pray about and wear you down that way!

  4. I don’t know where I heard this but here goes. We keep telling God how big our problems (fears) are. Why don’t we tell our problems (fears) how big our God is.
I think I need to take my own advice as I am afraid to be successful it seems at anything. It seems whenever I start becoming good at something, I start screwing up.

  5. Hi Dr. Grant,

I used to watch the news, along with other T.V. citcoms, thinking that it was beneficial to be aware of what’s going on in the world. Most of my decisions at the time were affected by fear. I started reading my Bible when my family broke up
six years ago, and gradually I started seeing life the way God intended it to be and started seeing what he wanted to do with my life. I eventually got rid of my T.V. and have kept the process of transformation going by adjusting every area of my life.

I know my past sins are forgiven and that I don’t need to fear anything or anyone, based on what God says, but if I still had a daily intake of fear and deception-filled media then I think the fears would still be there.

I do also counter all attacks by declaring aloud or in my mind that by the blood of Jesus I have been remeemed from death and that I have been redeemed from a life of :

    sickness and disease
    poverty and lack
confusion, aimlessness and – fear (of anything but God).

The effects of these declarations over time have been nothing short of powerful.

I often follow up with commands in Jesus’ name reguarding my health, career, and
family / relationships. Peace follows automatically. It has been a long process to get to this point and I am grateful for the Lord’s mercy, kindness and faithfulness, and to all the teachers I’ve been learning from online along the way.

My family is meeting for the first time in three years tomorrow evening. Please say a little prayer for us. I know the Lord has a great plan for us.

Thank you Dr. Grant and may God continue to bless you,

    Alcide

  6. Hi Dr. Grant: Here is something of late that I heard and put this together based on scripture in Deuteronomy 28:1-14. I believe that if we give to ourselves God’s blessings each and every day we are blessed no matter how bad things are going, but knowing and trusting His promises for His glory one day is what matters most to me. Here it is:

I AM BLESSED IN THE CITY
I AM BLESSED IN THE FIELD
I AM BLESSED IN MY DOWN SETTING
I AM BLESSED IN MY UPRISING
I AM BLESSED SOCIALLY, PHYSICALLY, MENTALLY, PSYCHOLOGICALLY
    I AM BLESSED RELATIONALLY, INTERPERSONALLY
I AM BLESSED, I AM BLESSED PHYSIOLOGICALLY
    I AM BLESSED
EVERY PART OF MY LIFE IS BLESSED
I SPEAK INTO MY DAY AND I DOWNLOAD PROSPERITY INTO MY DAY, SUCCESS INTO MY DAY
I SPEAK OVER THOSE THAT I LOVE
I SPEAK PROSPERITY AND SUCCESS, I SPEAK TO MY GOVERNMENT THEY WILL COME INTO DEVINE ALIGNMENT, THAT THEY WOULD LEAD MORALLY AND ETHICALLY
I SPEAK INTO MY BUSINESS, I SPEAK THAT MY BUSINESS IS SUCCESSFUL
THAT WE ARE INCREASING, THAT THERE IS NO DECREASE
I SPEAK INTO MY HOME, THAT MY HOME IS A HAVEN OF PEACE
I SPEAK INTO MY LOVED ONES
I SPEAK THAT THEIR LIVES IS A COMING BACK INTO ALIGNMENT
I DECREE AND DECLARE THAT WEALTH AND RICHES ARE IN OUR HOUSE
I SPEAK INTO MY MIND, PEACE
I SPEAK INTO MY HEART, COURAGE
I SPEAK INTO MY FEET THAT THERE ARE PATHS THAT I CAN WALK ON SO THAT I CAN OVERCOME EVERY OBSTACLE
I AM THE HEAD AND NOT THE TAIL
I AM FIRST AND NOT LAST
I AM ABOVE AND NOT BENEATH
    I AM LOVED BY GOD
    I AM CHOSEN BY GOD
    I AM PROTECTED BY GOD
TODAY SHALL COME INTO DIRECT ALIGNMENT WITH THE PLANS AND PURPOSES OF GOD
EVERY GOOD AND EVERY PERFECT GIFT COMES FROM GOD
TODAY IS MY GIFT, THEREFORE IT WILL END PERFECT AND IT WILL END GOOD
    IN JESUS NAME!

  7. Hi Dr. Grant:

Something else I need to share with you and your readers with respect to today’s post which I believe will be of benefit to many today.

Don’t worry about anything. Pray about everything! I know that this is easier said than done but I believe that prayer is the key to everything. I leave these scriptures for those who want to reflect on them:

Psalm 50:15 – “and call on me in the day of trouble; I will delivery you, and you will honor me.”

Psalm 55:22 – “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”

1 Peter 5:7 – “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

Phillipians 4:6-7 (6) “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (7) And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

God blessings be upon you all!

  8. Hi Dr Grant,

    Great video as always.

    My response to fear is 4 fold;

    1. Accept the truth, “Perfect love casts out fear” 1Jn 4 Vs 17-19

    2. Pray, “Lord I ask you to come and minister your love into this area of fear in my life”

    3. Thank and praise the Lord for His increasing measure of freedom and intimacy in my life because of the ministry of His word.

    4. Respond obediently to any word He gives.

    Ray

  9. I turn to the scripture in Philippians 4-13
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
The first time I say it I say the word “I” loudly then the rest in a normal tone. The second time I repeat it I put the loud emphasis on the word “Can” and continue to repeat the scripture putting the emphasis on each consecutive word. I end up repeating the whole scripture loudly. Usually the fear or anxiety is gone and if not I start all over again. Doing this exercise gives me no time to ponder on the “fear factor” and I believe that the name of Jesus chases satan right away.

  10. Hi Grant;
    As usual, another great thought.
One of my successes has been recetting scripture verses as to who I am in Christ. And thank God for the strenght made availsble from and by Him.

  11. Hi Grant, I watch your videos most weeks, but had to comment on this one. Your message is so simple but so effective. It was a sort of “why didn’t I think of that earlier?”. Thank you for pointing out God’s simple but powerful truths.

  12. Thank-you, Grant, for this very helpful video blog on ‘what ifs’. I have been using scripture memorization to help me out in those times of trouble. Joseph stored up food in the seven years of abundance so that Egypt would have what they needed in the seven years of famine. I have been ‘filling my barns’ with God’s promises from scripture. Putting God’s word in my heart so that it will be ready and available in those times of fear. One of my favorites is the promise of God’s strength, found in John 16:33: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

  13. These are great suggestions to deal with fear. It’s amazing how universal a problem fear is. Humans just seem to be wired to fear. Glad God wants to help us with it. Gale, to get my weekly emails, just fill out the subscription form on any web page.

  14. Thank-you, Dr. Grant. This is excellent. The enemy uses false horrific pictures of my loved ones, dead, to bother me. I am responding with, “In Jesus’ name, I do not worship that. God is working on that for me. I am peace, I am favored of God, God is the strength of my heart, thank-you Jesus!”

  15. What if? I confess that I see myself as above the tounges of the enemy, and not beneath them. I am over and not under the schemes of the enemy. I am above in God’s kingdom not below in the kingdom of this world. I am victorius, overcoming and strong in God and the power of His might….. That mighty power that is at work within me. That same power that raised Jesus from the dead. Declarations like these help me through the tough things I am facing on a daily basis, because I KNOW that what I face with courage and WITH GOD will only make me stronger. Jesus said,” Be encouraged for I have overcome the world.

  16. what if thought…. fear spear… i block by becoming focus on one my favourite topics …. old cars… i read story about old cars from my newspaer called ” old autos” cramming into my mind all the details of the written material. the thoughts stop. bye

  17. Life seems so good sometimes we forget we are living on a battlefield! Satan is the sworn enemy of Jesus Christ and of everyone who calls on HIS name. Thanks Grant – yes we MUST remember to keep our helmet of faith on to turn back those fiery missiles … may the LORD help us to do this every morning before we step out onto the battlefield of life … only then will we have victory over our fears. When I feel down or depressed — as I sometimes do — it will eventually dawn on me — this is NOT from God — well where did it come from? and I will command (aloud because he doesn’t know my thoughts) all the demons and angels of darkness to leave me NOW and depart from me in the name of JESUS who rose from the dead and gives me HIS authority. It’s amazing — the depression normally lifts instantly . Praise the LORD who gives us the victory. Amen.

  18. Wonderful!! I laughed and leapt inside for joy at the life and power in the faith talk found in “what if something Good Happens??” Sure enough, faith is an antidote to fear. I really needed this and am glad to train up my mind and heart to recall the mighty ways of our Lord in asking myself ” What is something great happens??”

Your desire to open up this pathway for others and remind us of our need for peace is Holy Spirit transformational. I guess that is the transformed life, isn’t it? When we can listen to the Spirit of our living Lord rather than our own imaginations or the spiritual darkness which seeks to sift us, our options open up hugely. Glory glory.

Grant, Thank you for your shepherds heart in feeding we His sheep and lambs with the delicious food He gives you to pass along. May the anointing Jesus has given you to speak healing to the broken hearted, to break the bonds of darkness and to set the captives free, Be refreshed and renewed to Christ’s glory in great fruitfulness and to the healing of the hearts and minds of many in Jesus name. Thank you faithful servant of the Most High God.

  19. Dr. Grant:

What if my fear is of something in the Bible such as end time events and what is going to happen in the future. Even though God says not to fear these things, I still find myself fearing… I fear the rapture, standing before God, seeing my loved ones who have died, etc…. these are things that I never hear people talk about so perhaps I am the only person that thinks this way. I am a believer, so that is not the problem. I have feared these things for YEARS !!!!! How can I stop fearing and begin to look forward to the Lord’s return and future events?

  20. I need to ask the difference between anxiety and fear? I get anxiety when i don’t want it . I deal with anxiety and depression in a (well they labeled me as bipolar but not a severe case). So I cannot tell if the anxiety is physical or mental or an attack from the enemy sometimes. Not to be personal but I am also going through perimeopause so that causes some too.

Anxiety and fear are so similar, I use the words interchangeably. A chemical imbalance makes it hard to shut the unwanted thought off. The spiritual attack rides in on this weakness to give you more things to worry about. So it’s often both. Hormonal changes aggravate the chemical imbalance. But that can be overcome with medications.
